1/10/2012 8:41:00 PM

Box Score ROCHESTER, NY - It took an extra five minutes of game time but the Daemen Wildcats came through with a 58-54 win on the road in overtime against the Roberts Wesleyan Raiders, giving head coach Dave Skolen his 400th career victory in the process. The win improves 24th ranked Daemen to 13-4 on the season and, more importantly, 4-0 in American Mideast Conference play. The home-standing Raiders fall to 10-6, 1-1.

"I feel fortunate to have coached so many great players over the last 20 years that's allowed our teams to win that many games," a modest Skolen said afterwards.

The Wildcats needed a strong second half effort to get the job done today as Roberts Wesleyan controlled the tempo in the opening period and took a 35-27 lead into halftime. Daemen responded and briefly took the lead midway through the second, only to see the Raiders grasp control again. Late in the frame, each team had chances to to take the lead with the game tied at 51-51, but the game was destined for overtime.

In the extra session, Daemen's 6'5" junior center Monica Kosior (Grimsby, ON/Blessed Trinity SS) went to work, scoring all seven of Daemen's points. Roberts Wesleyan managed just three points in the period and the celebration was on for Skolen's benchmark victory. Kosior finished with a game-high 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Daemen also got productive minutes from reserve forward Jordyn Broas (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East HS) who scored nine points, seven of which came in the pivotal second half. Junior Chelsea Andorka (Canton, OH/Central Catholic HS) also scored nine points while fellow junior Ellie Allen (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home HS) had eight points to go with a game-high 12 boards.

Marissa Bunce paced RWC with 15 points. Bianca Jones added 11.

Daemen next plays on Thursday when they host conference foe Wilberforce. Tip off is set for 5:30pm.
