FEDERAL WORK-STUDY POSITIONS
Open to Daemen University students who were awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) in their financial aid package for the current academic year. If you declined/canceled FWS, you are not eligible to apply to these jobs. There are other job opportunities on campus (see Daemen Work Program info further down this page).

Federal work-study employees with Daemen Athletics are primarily responsible for assisting in the following areas: Lumsden Gymnasium reception desk, Academic & Wellness Center fitness center/gymnasium reception desks, Daemen Athletics games and special events. 
  • Traditional FWS students are limited to working a maximum of 10 hours per week, 20 hours total per each bi-weekly pay period.
  • The maximum FWS earnings for HEOP students will be a maximum of 4 hours per week, 8 total hours for the bi-weekly pay period.
  • All student workers make NYS minimum wage, currently $14.20/hr.

  2. All available FWS jobs are posted for you to view and apply on Wildcat Works/Handshake. Search for "Athletics Team Member". (Please note: If you do not have FWS aid, you will not be able to see the positions.)
  3. Please note: there are many scamming and phishing attempts made across universities by third parties. DAEMEN WORK PROGRAM POSITIONS
Open to Daemen University students who WERE NOT awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) in their financial aid package for the current academic year. Daemen Work Program (DWP) positions are not posted and require special approval from the Division of Athletics and the Office of Financial Aid. DWP positions are limited in number. 

DWP employees with Daemen Athletics are primarily responsible for assisting in the following areas: Lumsden Gymnasium reception desk, Academic & Wellness Center fitness center/gymnasium reception desks, Daemen Athletics games and special events. 
  • Traditional DWP students are limited to working a maximum of 5.5 hours per week, 11 hours total per each bi-weekly pay period.
  • All student workers make NYS minimum wage, currently $14.20/hr.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Daemen Division of Athletics offers volunteer internship opportunities in the following areas: Athletic Communications; Compliance; Game & Event Operations; In-Game Host & Emcee; Marketing;  the Ticket Office; and Recreation. Interns play an important role in helping us run our department.  Our philosophy is to provide interns with hands-on experience that shows them what goes into running a Division II Athletics program. We also run an Intern Development Program, consisting of informal monthly breakfast or lunch meetings with athletics administrators and coaches, so you can get practical insights into careers in sports management and build your network.


SCHEDULE: Start dates will typically coincide with the start and end of each academic semester. We ask that you commit to working for the duration of the internship. Evening and weekend work will be required.  Your schedule may vary to accommodate evening and weekend work. There may be times when you will work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). 

SPECIAL NOTE: You MUST be enrolled in a degree or certificate-granting program with an accredited college or university that will grant you academic credit for your internship (no particular amount of credit needed). Please do not apply if you cannot meet this requirement.

Athletic Communications Internships (2)
Daemen Athletics offers two internship opportunities for Athletic Communications. The interns will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Communications Director. The interns will assist the Athletic Communications office with coverage and historical documentation of the University's 17-sport varsity athletics program.
 
The successful candidates will work with several teams to effectively promote and publicize the Athletics department through campus, local and national media outlets, as well as through the daemenwildcats.com website and social media avenues. The interns will also serve as writers and editors for the department's website. They will gain hands-on experience at a variety of athletic events. The successful candidates will also produce graphics, video features, and highlight content for social media and daemenwildcats.com.
 
The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024 with an anticipated end date of May 31, 2025, although dates are somewhat flexible. Work schedule will be based upon the intern's availability; nights and weekends are required as dictated by Daemen games and events. Compliance Internship (1)
Daemen Athletics offers an internship opportunity for Compliance & Student-Athlete Success. The intern will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Success.
 
The intern will assist in monitoring NCAA eligibility of student-athletes, academic success, work on special projects, assist in student-athlete academic certifications, learn how to use NCAA and university systems, and gain knowledge on how a college athletic department operates.
 
The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024 with an anticipated end date of May 31, 2025, although dates are somewhat flexible. Game & Event Operations Internships (2)
Daemen Athletics offers two internship opportunities for Game & Event Operations. The interns will report directly to the Graduate Assistant for Operations and will learn event, facility, and personnel management. Interns will assist with all logistical arrangements for intercollegiate contests, including supervising game-day crews and working with visiting teams and officials. Interns will also assist with field and facility scheduling, payment of officials, and coordinating intercollegiate contest contracts. You'll also help us run non-athletic events.

In-Game Host & Emcee Internship
Do you have what it takes to be the in-game host for Daemen Basketball and Volleyball? Daemen Athletics is seeking highly-talented individuals to serve as in-game host and emcee during 2024-25 Men's and Women's Basketball and Volleyball games. The primary responsibility of the position is to contribute to an exciting and memorable game day experience for student-athletes, coaches and Wildcat fans. Individuals may apply by submitting an application along with their resume to Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate Athletics Director for Communications & Operations, at mmiranto@daemen.edu. Work schedule will be based upon the intern's availability; nights and weekends are required as dictated by Daemen games and events.

The applicant must submit a video recording reading the script provided as they would on a game day capacity, along with any recordings or links that can be provided to showcase talent. Interested parties must be able to work select home games as well as other identified special events. All videos must be submitted to mmiranto@daemen.edu.

Following the application process, an in-person interview and live audition will take place. A sample script will be provided for individuals to read through during the audition process.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Strong vocal and on-camera talent, excellent enunciation skills and comfort-level announcing to crowds 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to be spontaneous and react quickly as appropriate
  • A unique and definitive personality, while retaining the Daemen traditions and sportsmanship expected in a collegiate environment
  • Ability to arrive for home games at least 60-minutes prior to game start
  • Receptive to both positive and constructive feedback
  • Interest or knowledge of sports preferred


Marketing Internships (2)
Daemen Athletics offers two internship opportunities for Marketing. The interns will report directly to the Sr. Associate Athletics Director for Communications & Operations. 

The interns' responsibilities will include: creating and executing robust marketing plans with goals of growing attendance, increasing ticket revenue (when applicable); collaborating with multimedia and other departments to write game scripts that create an impactful fan experience; planning and executing marketing promotions, including set up and breakdown; creating and distributing marketing materials highlighting all 17 varsity teams; implementing marketing initiatives on Daemen Athletics social media channels, including the ideation and creation of content; fulfilling a variety of sponsorship activations across digital, email, and in-game channels; managing and growing awareness and utilization of the Daemen Connect app; assist in execution of in-game promotions; other duties as assigned.

The successful candidates should be highly organized individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in promotions, marketing, and business are preferred. Ticket Sales (2)
Daemen Athletics offers two internship opportunities for Ticket Sales. The interns will report directly to the Sr. Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations.

Intern are afforded an opportunity to learn all aspects of running an athletics ticket office.  You will gain valuable customer service skills, learn how to run a ticket office on game day, including selling walk up tickets, will-call tickets, how to distribute player complimentary tickets according to NCAA regulations and all other game prep procedures and you will be fully trained in our ticket selling software system.  We also offer the chance to gain work experience with other aspects related to the business affairs of the Division of Athletics.

Recreation and Wellness (1)
Daemen Athletics offers an internship opportunity, reporting directly to the Director of Recreation and Wellness, assisting in the operations of the AWC Fitness Center and Gymnasium, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and Special Events. 

Students will learn how to effectively market and manage a growing intramural sports program, including player registration, scheduling, event set-up, game oversight, score reporting, playoff bracketing, etc. Students will also gain experience in fitness center and gym operations management, membership software, worker scheduling and oversight, equipment maintenance, and inventory control. In addition, students will have the opportunity to enhance special recreational events, club sports administration, social media marketing, and more.

Successful candidates will be outgoing with a broad-based knowledge of various sports and experience in playing intramurals. Dependability, communication skills, and strong problem-solving skills are key. Students must have the ability to work multiple nights each week, as dictated by the intramural game schedule.
