AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen Wildcats dropped their fourth consecutive game on Saturday to fall to 2-4 on the season after suffering a 102-63 setback to Robert Morris University (IL), ranked #4 in the pre-season NAIA Division I poll. The result marked Daemen's third loss to a team ranked in the top five of their respective national polls.
Daemen saw their first and only lead of the contest just 19 seconds into the game when freshman
Casey Sheehan canned a three-point shot to open the scoring. From there, the highly-touted Eagles responded with 10 straight points and never looked back. With their lead ballooning to as many as 16 points midway through the first half, Daemen was able to cut the lead to 10 on three occasions before the Eagles extended their edge back to 18 by halftime.
The second half saw more of the same as Robert Morris enjoyed a 20+ point advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Diante Watkins led the barrage of Eagle scoring with a game-high 22 points. Reggie Bunch and Ricardo Laing scored 16 apiece while Bunch added a game-high 13 rebounds before being tossed out after his second technical foul. 6'8" Roy Beard chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles.
Junior forward
Chandler Williams came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points, nine of which came in the first half.
Moustapha Baidy canned three shots from long range on his way to a career-high 11 points.
Daemen returns to action on Friday night at the Gary Miller Classic hosted by Gannon University (PA) where they'll face NCAA Division II Northern Michigan.
