Wildcats Still Searching For 1st Win After 1-0 Loss At Roberts Wesleyan

9/12/2012 9:34:00 PM

Box Score ROCHESTER, NY - For the second time in three outings, the Daemen Wildcats found themselves on the wrong end of a 1-0 score, falling against the rival Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks tonight at RWC Stadium.

The Redhawks' Stephen Stewart struck a shot along the ground and scored from 15 yards out in the 24th minute.  Jake Zito was credited with an assist on the play and the goal stood up as all that was needed to knock off the Wildcats who fall to 0-3-0 on the season while Roberts Wesleyan improved to 2-2-0.

Daemen managed three shots on goal in the contest with two coming from junior Josh Radecki (South Wales, NY/Holland Central HS).  The Wildcats best chance to score came with under four minutes to go when junior Kyle Clifford (West Seneca, NY/St. Francis HS) launched a booming line drive from far right wing that beat Redhawks keeper Michael Scavone but rang off the crossbar.

Scavone made three saves to pick up the shutout and the win for Roberts Wesleyan.  Daemen's Matt Daddario (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home HS) made seven saves between the pipes for the Wildcats but was the hard-luck loser in the tightly contested game.

The Daemen scoring drought has now reached 270 minutes to open the season.  The Wildcats also dropped a 1-0 decision in double overtime in their season opener at Maine-Fort Kent, while also suffering a 6-0 setback this past weekend at NAIA #5 Rio Grande.

The Wildcats will look to get off the proverbial schneid when they travel across town to take on the Buffalo State Bengals this Saturday in a 1pm game at Coyer Field.
