WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.- The Daemen College men's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2013-14 schedule today with a 7-2 win over Houghton College at the Park Country Club courts tonight.
"The men played a very competitive match today against Houghton," coach Stephen Beatty said. "I was happy with how the doubles started off for us today which led into great singles performances."
Daemen (2-1) took four out of six in singles competition. Sophmore Gregory Lowe (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) led the charge in the No. 1 singles slot, defeating Houghton's Brennan Campbell 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
The No. 1 doubles team of freshmen John LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and Adam Kerr (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) got the best of Campbell and Matt James, taking their match 8-6. LeMar also downed James in the No. 2 singles spot 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Zach Kinnaird (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) and junior Alex White (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) defeated Dan Thompson and Karl Mansfield 8-3.
The Wildcats will be back in action in the spring when they travel to Erie, Pa. to face off against Mercyhurst College on Feb. 9th.
