OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's soccer team had their hands full on the road today, dropping a 7-0 decision to the New York Institute of Technology in East Coast Conference action at President's Stadium.

The loss dropped Daemen to 3-7-0 overall, and 0-4-0 in conference play. NYIT, which was picked third in the ECC Preseason Poll, improved to 7-2-0 overall and evened its conference record at 2-2-0.

The Bears took control early and never looked back, getting seven goals from six different players. The NYIT offense has now produced 16 goals in its last two outings, having defeated Goldey-Beacom College 9-1 earlier this week.

Harvey Houpe got things going in the seventh minute for NYIT.  Houpe tapped in a rebound of Eli Whyte's initial shot for his first tally of the season.

Houpe would add another in the 17th minute off a feed from Ivan Rico. His shot from 15 yards out near the corner of the box found its way past Daemen goalkeeper Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) for the 2-0 lead.

Matthew Jean-Baptiste made it a three-goal advantage for NYIT with his first marker of the year in the 45th minute, heading in a pass from Matt DiDonna.

The second half was more of the same. NYIT got tallies from Javier Gallardo (49:24; unassisted), Dominic Iovino (58:43; from DiDonna), Alberto Ruiz (61:45; from Rico) and DiDonna (75:54; from Carlos Martinez), finishing off four-point afternoons for Houpe and DiDonna.

NYIT had the advantage in total shots 22-10. Daemen placed three shots on frame in the game.

Liam Waddy made two saves to earn the win between the pipes for NYIT. He was relieved Ryan MacCrea in the 76th minute.

Daddario went the distance for Daemen and made four saves.

The Wildcats will look to regroup in time for their next contest. They'll face ECC favorite and No. 2 ranked Long Island University Post on Sunday (Oct. 6) in Brookville, N.Y.Â
