Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y.- The Daemen College men's soccer team fell on the road today, dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to Roberts Wesleyan College.  With the win, the Redhawks, upped their record to 1-5-1 (1-2 ECC) while the Wildcats dropped to 2-6-0 on the season (0-3 ECC).

The Redhawks were the first to get on the board as Colton Orbaker scored when he received a pass from teammate Stephen Stewart and tallied in the shot (29th minute). The Wildcats answered back quickly when sophomore Caleb Holmes (Cuba, N.Y. / Cuba-Rushford) headed the ball in off a free kick in the 34th minute which tied the score 1-1 right before the half.

The game went scoreless in the second half which forced the two teams into overtime. With the match knotted at 1-1, Alex Harling brought home the win for the Redhawks in the 94th minute when he scored an unassisted goal. Roberts fired 13 total shots in the game and held an 6-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Junior goalkeeper Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) made three saves to keep it close for the Wildcats.

This was Daemen's first overtime loss since a 2-1 defeat at home to The College at Brockport on Oct. 2, 2012.  They had won three straight overtime games coming into today, including a 3-2 double OT thriller in their last matchup with the Redhakws.

Daemen returns to action tomorrow (Sept. 29) when they host the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown at 1 p.m.
