BOX SCOREWILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat today to St. Thomas Aquinas College in an East Coast Conference match. The match was moved indoors to Miller Tennis Center because of rain showers moving through the area.
Daemen got off to a sluggish start after dropping the three doubles matches. The team of
Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and
Tianna Washington (North Chili, N.Y./Monroe CC) put up the best fight for the Wildcats, but they fell to the Spartans' Carolyn Kopf and Nasia Vega, 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles slot.
STAC proceeded to sweep through the six singles matches as well.
With the loss, Daemen drops to 4-10 overall and 1-6 in the league. STAC improved to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the ECC with their win today.
Daemen hosts Thiel College in non-league action tomorrow at Park Country Club.
