Women's Soccer Falls At Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to host Molloy College today in East Coast Conference action.  The loss, Daemen's fifth by one goal this season, keeps the Wildcats (3-11-1, 0-6-1 ECC) in serch of their first conference victory of the season.  Molloy, meanwhile, continued its hot pursuit of an ECC Tournament berth, improving to 4-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the league.

After a scoreless opening period, the game's lone tally came off the foot of Molloy's Allison Sloper in the 55th minute.  She took a through-ball from Alexa De La Torre and placed a shot in the lower left corner of the net to put the Lions ahead.

Both of Daemen's shots on goal came late in the second half as the Wildcats tried desperately to knot the score.  The first came off the foot of sophomore Emily Ward (Leonardsville, N.Y./Mount Markham Central) in the 85th minute, which was followed by another from senior Rachael Banasik (Depew, N.Y./Depew) with under 30 ticks left on the clock.  But, both attempts were turned away by Molloy's Paige Salmon.  Banasik had earlier clanged one off the post in the first half as well.

Senior Juli Prentice (Dryden, N.Y./Dryden) went the distance in goal for Daemen for the fourth straight game, making five saves in defeat.

Daemen is idle until Wednesday, Oct. 29 when they'll face Alfred University under the lights at Dimp Wagner Stadium to kickoff a regular-season-ending three-game home-stand.
