Graduating Seniors Nowak, Turcer Honored In Ceremony Commemorating Final Home Match

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's volleyball team snapped an 11-match skid and earned a 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21) over visiting Molloy College in their final home contest at Lumsden Gymnasium this season.  With the win, Daemen improved to 2-25 overall and 2-12 in the East Coast Conference this season, while Molloy dropped to 11-16 overall and 5-9 in the league.

After dropping the opening set, Daemen responded by taking the next three to earn their first four-set victory of the season.

Senior Lindsey Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y./Immaculata), playing in the final home match of her storied career, produced a match-best 18 kills to lead the Wildcats.  Not to be outshined, classmate Chelsea Turcer (Alexander, N.Y./Alexander Central) tied for match-high honors with 17 digs to pace the Daemen defense in victory today.

Sophomore Amber Drzymala (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster) added 16 kills to the Wildcat cause while freshman Katie McKrell (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) was on point with 39 assists.

Sam Berna paced the Lions with a double-double (16 kills, 11 digs) while Cassie Palmer notched 17 digs in defeat.

Nowak and Turcer were honored a ceremony between the second and third sets, commemorating their respective careers.

Daemen will closeout its 2014 season with a pair of road tilts next weekend, visiting New York Institute of Technology (Nov. 7) and Long Island University Post (Nov. 8).
