ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's volleyball team dropped a straight-sets defeat on the road to Roberts Wesleyan College (24-26, 11-25, 19-25) at Voller Athletic Center this evening. The loss drops Daemen (0-10 overall) to 0-1 in East Coast Conference play to start the season while the Redhawks establish a clean record in conference play 1-0 (5-3 overall).

Daemen had no answer for the Redhawks' senior stud Kendall Havener and freshman newcomer Courtney Taylor. Havener and Taylor both racked up 12 kills apiece while Havener also added 12 digs in the match to lead Roberts.
Additionally, Jordan Wilson added 10 kills and Maggie Concannon added 34 assists and four digs for RWC. Â As a whole, the Redhawks were able to succeed in one area that Daemen struggled in, attacking at a .288 clip.Â
Lindsey Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y./Immaculata) paced the Wildcats with 10 kills and six digs while
Katie McKrell (Webster, N.Y./Wesbter Schroeder) added 12 assists.
Daemen came out to a 5-1 lead in the first set as the Wildcats took four consecutive points starting with a kill by
Amber Drzymala (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Mary's of Lancaster).
Nowak took the next point with another kill which was followed by a service ace from Drzymala, The Redhawks fought back to a 9-9 tie and from there the teams played back and forth. Eventually the set ended with RWC winning by a thread 26-24.
Havener came out in the second set serving up three consecutive aces as the Redhawks never looked back taking the set, 25-11. The Redhawks led the rest of the way taking the match after a 25-19 victory in the third set.
Daemen will look to snap its ten-match skid in their home opener against East Coast Conference member Dowling College this Friday (Sept. 19). Â Daemen scored a four-set win (25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) over Dowling College to earn their first ECC victory over the Golden Lions last season. Â The match gets going at 7 p.m. in Lumsden Gymnasium.
