BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 match to East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Long Island University Post this afternoon. With the loss, Daemen falls to 0-2 (0-2 ECC) on the season while the Pioneers picked up their second win of the season (2-0 overall, 2-0 ECC).
"We competed really hard today against an improved LIU Post team," said head coachÂ
Stephen Beatty. "We played really tough in the singles action and are improving with every match. Â I'm super proud of
Sarah Crissy who won her first collegiate singles match. She played so well and has improved so much so far this season."
Freshman,
Sarsh Crissy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) was the lone Wildcat to break through in singles action, winning her No. 5 singles matchup against the Pioneers' Megan Byrne, 7-6, 6-2.  It was Crissy's first win of her collegiate career season in singles competition, though in a losing effort overall for Daemen.
Â
The Wildcats also received wins in both No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default.
Daemen looks to get their first win of the season with a non-conference road match tomorrow (Sept. 7) against Goldey-Beacom College at 11 a.m.
