AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team bounced back against Houghton College, snapping a three-match slide with an 8-1 victory in today's non-conference match held at the Ellicott Tennis Courts. This win bumps the Wildcats to a 5-9 standing overall this fall.
The Wildcats were unblemished in singles competition.
Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneso) returned to the lineup after missing two matches due to an injury. Hollins had a sweet comeback as she defeated Bethany Chesebro 6-1, 6-1 improving her to 8-5 overall in singles play this season.
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) took down Tori Noller 6-0, 6-0. This win pushed Scanlan to 10-8 overall.
Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) defeated Laura Jacuzzo 6-2, 6-3 while
Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) beat Tera Anderson 6-0, 6-0.
Delaney Fragale (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) was able to take down Hannah Hale 6-1, 6-0 while
Sarah Crissy (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) ended singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Carl.
Scanlan and Hollins paired up to increase their overall doubles record to 10-6 by defeating Chesebro and Noller, 8-1. Ringler and Robins were back in action together as they took down Jacuzzo and Anderson, 8-1. Crissy and
Maria McGrath (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) fell to Toni Kling and Katelyn Sylor, 8-4, as the Highlanders avoided the shutout.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 17 in an East Coast Conference match against Long Island University Post at the Ellicott Tennis Courts at 12:00 p.m.
