AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's tennis team faltered at home against Long Island University Post, 9-0, this afternoon in an East Coast Conference contest. With the win, the Pioneers will advance to 6-5 overall with a 4-3 mark in conference play while the Wildcats will drop to 5-10 with a 1-6 skid in ECC competition.
Junior
Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo) was looking to continue her winning streak, after returning last week from an injury, but fell to Shanice Arthur, 6-0, 6-3.
Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) faltered against Didi Fatchikova, 6-0, 6-1.
Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and
Jessica Robins (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) had similar endings to their match and they both dropped the competition.
Delaney Fragale (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) fought hard against Laura Harwell, but lost the match 6-2, 6-4.
Sarah Crissy (Tonawanda,N.Y./Kenmore East) looked to continue her winning streak as well but could not match up against Meagan Byrne and fell 6-4, 6-2.
The Wildcats were unsuccessful in doubles competition and fell in the three contests.
Daemen will continue competition by traveling to Albany tomorrow (October 18, 2015) to compete against the College of Saint Rose at 3:30 p.m.
