Hollins Earns Second-Team All-ECC Honors

Junior Went 8-6 In Singles Play This Fall

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College women's tennis player Karli Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y./SUNY Geneseo) has earned second-team All-East Coast Conference honors as voted on by the league's eight head coaches and announced today by the conference office.  In gaining the accolade, Hollins becomes the first Daemen tennis player to garner all-league recognition since Daemen joined the ECC in 2013.

Hollins, a 5-foot-5 junior, competed in ECC play for the first time this fall after transferring to Daemen last spring.  She compiled an 8-6 overall record in singles play, including a 4-3 mark in ECC matches, while appearing in the No. 1 singles slot for Daemen all fall.  In doubles, she also consistently appeared in the No. 1 slot, teaming with the likes of Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) and Gretchen Ringler (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) to achieve a record of 11-7.

Hollins got her season off to a fast start, winning five singles matches in a row, including wins in ECC play versus players from Molloy College, Queens College and Roberts Wesleyan College.  After suffering three setbacks, Hollins got back on track with a singles victory over Elena Melian Puigventos of NCAA Division I Saint Peter's College on October 2.  She followed that with another win in ECC play over Bianca Signore of Saint Thomas Aquinas College on October 3.

In doubles action, Hollins went 8-1 over her first nine outings, pairing with Scanlan in seven of the eight wins.

Her efforts helped Daemen to a 5-11 overall record this fall.  Hollins and her teammates continue their season next spring beginning with the Daemen/Medaille Invitational on February 19.
