Carboni Earns All-League Honors

Sophomore Back Played Key Role In Daemen's Ascension In ECC Standings This Season

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College soccer player Rose Carboni (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) was named to the third-team All-East Coast Conference after a vote of the league's 10 head coaches, announced today in a press release from the conference office headquartered in Central Islip, N.Y.

Carboni, a 5-foot-5 sophomore back, played an integral role for Daemen defensively, helping the Wildcats pitch six shutouts during their 7-10-1 campaign.  Half of the team's shutouts came during ECC play where Daemen posted a 4-5-0 record to finish in fifth place in the final regular season standings, six points back of the fourth and final ECC Tournament berth.  The four league wins this season were the most for Daemen since joining the ECC back in 2013, and they quadrupled Daemen's league win totals from the last two seasons combined.

"I am very excited to see Rose honored this way.  It's well-deserved recognition for her, and I'm glad the head coaches in our league saw the value she brought to our team this season," said Daemen head coach Dan Dolan.  "She has improved greatly over the last two years and has really developed into a consistent defender, and one of the top backs in our league."

Carboni made 17 appearances, starting in each one of them this season.  In addition to her defensive prowess, she recorded one goal and two points this season, scoring on September 7 in a tough 2-1 loss to Le Moyne College in non-league action.

In her two-year career, Carboni has made 38 appearances, including 28 starts, and has totaled three goals, one assist and seven points.

In addition to naming its all-league teams, the conference also released its major award winners for the season.  Bella Mitrevski of Roberts Wesleyan College was named Offiensive Player of the Year, while Defensive Player of the Year (Nicola Worhtington), Goalkeeper of the Year (Jennifer Wendelius) and Rookie of the Year (Jess Laszlo) honors all went to players from University of Bridgeport.  Also, UB's Magnus Nilerud was named Coach of the Year.
