Former Wildcat Sheehan Re-Signs With Rochester RazorSharks

3436AMHERST, N.Y. - The Rochester RazorSharks of the Premier Basketball League (PBL) announced yesterday that former Daemen College men's basketbal star Casey Sheehan (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) has re-signed with the team for their upcoming 2016 season.

Sheehan, a 5-foot-10 combo guard, appeared in 13 games for the RazorSharks last season, averaging 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, helping the team capture the 2015 PBL championship by defeating the Lake Michigan Admirals in a best-of-three championship series.  Sheehan was welcomed back to the team after impressing new RazorSharks head coach Chris Daleo at open tryouts held in October and November.

"Casey is also an extremely hard working an humble player," Daleo said in the team's press release announcing Sheehan's signing, as well as that of 6-foot-6 guard Jordan Walker, a Walsh University product.  "He played well in the October free agent camp.  He pushes himself extremely hard, and in doing so makes others work hard as well.  He is really going to compete in vets camp at the end of December."

Sheehan was a dynamo during his time on the court at Daemen, starring for the Wildcats from 2010-14.  In that time, he led the team to an overall record of 82-39.  He concluded his career with 1,506 points, the sixth-most in team history at the time of his graduation.  He also ranks among Daemen's all-time leaders in assists (470 - third), steals (185 - tied for second), made field goals (544 - sixth), field goals attempted (1,286 - fifth), made three-point field goals (147 - sixth), three-point field goals attempted (477 - sixth) and games played (114 - tied for seventh).

"I am grateful to be back for another year of RazorSharks basketball," Sheehan said when reached via telephone.  "I'm very excited to help this team win, and hopefully bring another championship this season.  I am also grateful for the time I spent playing and studying at Daemen, which has no doubt prepared me to play at the professional level."

The RazorSharks are one of the founding members of the PBL which has been in existence since 2007.  The PBL features 19 franchises spread across three divisions.  The RazorSharks compete in the Northeast Division with such teams as the Buffalo 716ers, New England Shamrocks and Jamestown Jackals to name a few.

The RazorSharks' full 2016 schedule is yet to be released, but plans indicate the team will open the season on New Year's Day.

Sheehan is one of several former Daemen players to make the transition to professional basketball, both in the U.S. and abroad, in recent years.  Perhaps the most notable is Sheehan's former teammate Gerald Beverly who now plays for Telekom Baskets in Bonn, Germany.  Others making the leap to the pro ranks recently have included Uchechi Ogbonna (El Salvador), Dom Mazzocchi (Malta), Devon Dawson (PBL's Buffalo 716ers), Jorge Ebanks (England) and Ajay Rutledge (Mexico).
