BOX SCORE

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat today in non-conference action against visiting Mercyhurst University at Miller Tennis Center.  With the loss, Daemen drops to 5-10 overall this season while the Lakers jump to 10-3.

Mercyhurst jumped out in front, 3-0, after sweeping through doubles action to start the match.  John LeMar (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and Mark Veitengruber (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) had the best doubles performance for Daemen, but fell, 8-3 in the No. 1 position to Mercyhurst's Travis Beck and Nenad Torzic.

Daemen never gained its footing as the Lakers continued their roll into singles play.  Mercyhurst took all five matchups in straight sets.  Newcomer Joey Gentile (East Amherst, N.Y./Niagara University) nearly pushed his match to a third set, but fell 7-6.
