EDINBORO, Pa. – The men's tennis team of Daemen College fell on the road to hosts Edinboro University, 9-0 tonight at Westwood Racquet Club.
Seniors
Joey Gentile and
Gregory Lowe fought hard in the first doubles match, but ended up losing 8-3 to Edinboro's Camilo Moncayo and Vitor Albanese. The team of
Mark Veitengruber and
Justin Milner followed up in the second doubles match strongly, but could not prevail, losing 8-2 to Daniel Fernandez and Mateus Santos.
The Wildcats played tough in singles play, posting 26 points between six individual matches. In No. 2 singles, Gentile competed with the Fighting Scots' Mauricio Santos, but ended up losing 6-3, 6-3. Redshirt freshman
Andrew LeMar had an exceptional match in the No. 3 singles slot. In a hard fought match, LeMar would lose 7-5, then 6-1.
Adam Kerr showed hope for Daemen in the final singles match, losing 6-3 and 6-3.
On an unfortunate six-game losing streak, the loss puts the Wildcats at 2-8 on the season, while the hosts remain unblemished at 7-0.
Daemen will look to end the losing streak on March 6
against the visiting Niagara Purple Eagles.
