AMHERST, N.Y. - Earlier this week, Director of Athletics
Bridget Niland appeared on a
podcast for
perspectiveonathletics.com, an online resource for small college athletics.
The podcast, hosted by Mark Majeski, and the Perspective on Athletics website in general, is aimed at providing relevant content that promotes professional growth and development. Â The site is designed to aggregate news, useful articles and other resources relevant to current or aspiring intercollegiate athletics administrators.In the podcast Niland discusses her background, including time as a student-athlete at both Dickinson College and the State University of New York at Buffalo and being a representative on the national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as her journey through law school to a federal clerkship and a stint with the U.S. Justice Department, and the path that's led to her current position here at Daemen College.
In addition, Niland talks about Daemen's recent transition to NCAA Division II. Â In respect to her current role, she also discusses her approach to fundraising and leading a Division II athletics department, and being in the minority as a female athletics director.
Since being
appointed to her current position in July of 2014, Niland has guided Daemen through the final stages of the
NCAA Division II membership process while presiding over an athletics department that has experienced steady growth. Â In addition, she's been named to
Buffalo Business First's Power 100 Women, appointed to the
Board of Directors for Visit Buffalo Niagara, and awarded with the
Young Professional Leadership Award at the 26th Annual Athena Awards Luncheon.Â
