Women's Track & Field 5/27/2016 9:50:00 AM Cheff Named To Academic All-District First Team AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College multi-sport student-athlete Ashley Cheff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District first team for the combined sports of cross country and track and field as selected by CoSIDA members from NCAA Division II East Region schools. The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Cheff, who competed during both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons in 2015-16, carried a 4.00 grade-point-average as a Political Science major. She recently graduated after just three years of college study, and will return for the 2016-17 academic year as a graduate student to compete for Daemen's triathlon team which she was also a part of this past year in the team's inaugural season of existence. On the track, Cheff earned second-team All-East Coast Conference honors during the indoor season for her fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:50.82 at the ECC Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on February 26. She was also a member of Daemen's record-setting distance medley team which placed second at the conference championship meet with a time of 13:01.60 to additionally earn second-team honors for Cheff. During the outdoor campaign, Cheff again earned second-team All-ECC honors, this time for finishing third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:50.18 at the conference championship meet held on April 23 at Roberts Wesleyan College. Cheff and the additional honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
