AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Stephen Beatty announced today that the Wildcats' women's tennis program will host a Campus Kids Day event in collaboration with the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) this season.  

The event, the first of its kind sponsored by Daemen, will take place on Saturday, October 1 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ellicott Tennis Courts prior to the Wildcats' home match versus East Coast Conference foe Saint Thomas Aquinas College later that afternoon.  

Children of all ages are invited to attend the event where they'll participate in fun, tennis-based games and activities with Daemen's student-athletes serving as the event's hosts.  All those attending will receive a Daemen tennis wristband.  Food will be provided at the conclusion of the day's activities when all children and parents will be invited to stay and cheer on the Wildcats in their NCAA Division II women's tennis match which is slated for 12:30 p.m.

"I'm very excited to be bringing this event to Daemen for the first time," Beatty said.  "As the only Division II program in the Buffalo-Niagara Region, it is our responsibility, I feel, to work with the USTA and help in their efforts to promote the sport of tennis to today's youngsters, in the hopes of growing their interest in the game.  We hope to see a large turnout at the event.  I know our student-athletes are looking forward to it as much as I am."

The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport's growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the U.S. Open.
