Wescott Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week

Sophomore Goalkeeper Led Daemen To Wins Over Findlay & Tiffin Last Weekend

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College women's soccer player Jackie Wescott (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) has been named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played September 6-11.  The announcement was made via the league's weekly report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in Central Islip, N.Y.

Wescott, a 5-foot-9 sophomoe goalkeeper, led Daemen (2-2-0, 0-0-0 ECC) to its first two wins of the year as the Wildcats defeated non-conference foes University of Findlay (2-1 in overtime) and Tiffin University (1-0) this past weekend.

In Wildcats' thrilling overtime victory at UF on Saturday, Wescott made a career-high five saves to pick up her first career win between the pipes.  It was also the Wildcats' second consecutive win in games that head to the extra session.

Wescott followed that up by making two saves to register her first career shutout in the victory over Tiffin on Sunday.

Just two weeks into the 2016 season, Wescott has already established career-highs for games played (3) and started (3) and total saves (11).

After begining the season with four consecutive road games, Wescott and the Wildcats are home for four in a row, beginning with a matchup against Mansfield University this Wednesday, September 14.
