For Communications Keem Named Division II Hero Of The Week AMHERST, N.Y. - Freshman forward/defender Noah Keem (Amherst, N.Y.) of the Daemen College men's soccer team has been named the HEROSports.com NCAA Division II Hero of the Week which honors the player with the best individual performance in games played last week. Keem, who was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, continued his ascent up the ECC statistical leaderboards with three goals and two assists (eight points) over two games last week while helping Daemen (6-9 overall, 2-5 ECC) to a 1-1 record. In the Wildcats' 6-1 non-conference win Oct. 10 vs. University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Keem posted the first multi-goal game of his career, scoring twice in a little over two minutes early in the first half. His first goal at the 11:07 mark went down as the first game-winning goal of his career. He went on to add an assist on Finn Krueger's (Neuried, Germany) goal in the 73rd minute. In a wild 4-3 double overtime loss Oct. 14 to the University of Bridgeport, Keem registered a goal and an assist. He put Daemen ahead 1-0 at the 16:44 mark with his sixth goal of the season, capitalizing on a rebound opportunity after an initial shot by classmate Victor Lanje (Helsingborg, Sweden). Keem then assisted on another Krueger tally, this one knotting the game at 2-2 at the 58:38 mark. It's been an incredible run for Keem of late as he's totaled all 18 of his points this season (seven goals, four assists) over the last seven games, helping Daemen to a 4-3 record in those contests. He ranks first among all ECC freshmen, and fifth in the league overall, in both goals and points. Keem was nominated for the Hero of the Week award Tuesday. He garnered 286 votes, accounting for 63.7 percent of the total votes cast this week. Additional nominees for the Hero of the Week award include midfielder Charlie Dennis of Palm Beach Atlantic University, forward Eddy Enowbi of East Stroudsburg University, forward Dionysius Harmon of Clayton State University, defender Sam Jones of Young Harris College, midfielder Charlie Ledula of Long Island University Post, forward Pol Monells of Barton College, forward Leonardo Paiva of Notre Dame College, goalkeeper Drew Trautmann of Rollins College and goalkeeper Mikael Vann of Erskine College.
