Men's Track & Field 11/30/2017 2:30:00 PM Lea Sobieraski, Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant Indoor Schedules Set For Men's & Women's Track & Field Squads 2017-18 Men's Indoor Track & Field Schedule 2017-18 Women's Indoor Track & Field Schedule AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College track and field program has officially released its' 2017-18 indoor schedule, including a packed six-meet slate between the month of January and February, announced today by head coach Paul Lagno. The season officially gets underway on Friday, January 13 when the Wildcats make their first trek to Rochester, N.Y. for the RIT Invitational hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers. A week later, Daemen will travel to Houghton, N.Y. for the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton College on January 19. This marks the second consecutive year that the Wildcats will compete in this meet. Daemen finishes their January stampede on the 27th, taking part in the Brockport Golden Eagle Multi and Invitational held by The College at Brockport. After taking the first weekend off in February, the Wildcats have a jammed-packed month with competitions every weekend the rest of the way. Daemen will travel back to Houghton on February 10th for the second Highlander Invitational of the year, followed by another trip to Brockport on February 17, for the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational. The Wildcats conclude their indoor schedule at the 2018 East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The competition will be held on February 23 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten island, N.Y. Last season, the Wildcat men placed sixth out of eight competing teams, at the ECC Championship meet, while the Wildcat women finished tied for fifth in team standings out of nine participating teams. On the men's side, veteran standout Zach Laird (Alexander, N.Y.) returns as one of Daemen's top performers on both the track and the field. Other notable returners include distance runners Josh Bodnar (Fillmore, N.Y.) and Lucas Canales (Ithaca, N.Y.), sprinters Tyler Compo (Lancaster, N.Y.), Drew Greenaway (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jonny Schmidt (Clarence Center, N.Y.) and Justin Petrocy (Elma, N.Y.), and the throwing duo of Sullivan Keller (Alden, N.Y.) and Andrew Strobele (Akron, N.Y.). On the women's side, long distance specialist Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y.) and sprinting standout Tiffany Cycon (Lancaster, N.Y.) headline the Wildcat tracksters. Other key returners include junior hurdler Sam Carro (Canandaigua, N.Y.), the pole vaulting pair of Kyra Kress (Wayland, N.Y.) and Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.), and sprinter Sydney McDonough (Alfred Station, N.Y.). Daemen's season will resume at the end of March with the start of the outdoor season; that schedule will be announced at a later date.
