Donahue Set To Compete At NCAA Division II Nationals

THE STARTING LINE
Daemen College track and field sensation Mackenzie Donahue will compete in the 10,000-meter run at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship meet Thursday evening in Bradenton, Florida...Donahue earned an invitation to compete in the 10,000-meter run after posting her best time in the event this season at the Brockport Invitational...there Donahue won the race with a school-record time of 35:35.11 which at the time ranked first in the country for all female NCAA Division II runners competing in this event...Donahue went on to win the 10,000-meter at the East Coast Conference Championship meet, and received NCAA Division II All-Region honors in both the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter distances for the second consecutive season.

ON THE SIDELINES
Paul Lagno begins his second season as the head men's and women's track and field coach in 2017…additionally, he leads the cross country and indoor track and field programs…in his coaching debut during the 2015-16 academic year, he led the women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the ECC Championship meet, and a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships…under his leadership, the team appeared into the East Regional rankings for the first time…prior to coming to Daemen, he served as the head men's and women's cross country coach and assistant men's and women's track and field coach at Northwood University…Lagno also spent time working as the men's cross country and track and field operations assistant for the Florida State Seminoles'…the native of Millbrook, N.Y. graduated from the State University of New York at Albany where he made his mark as a premiere collegiate athlete, setting six school records.
