Men's Soccer 9/11/2017 4:17:00 PM Mike Miranto, Associate A.D. For Communications Aadnoy Named ECC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week AMHERST, N.Y. - Freshman forward Kristian Aadnoy (Gjerdrum, Norway) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for games played September 4-10. The official announcement was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y. Aadnoy's offensive exploits helped the Wildcats go 2-1 last week, picking up wins over Stonehill College (3-2 on Sept. 4) and Walsh University (2-1 on Sept. 9), before falling in a 5-4 barn-burner vs. Bloomsburg University (Sept. 10). Aadnoy registered the first four goals of his career in the three games. Aadnoy scored twice in the team's Labor Day win over Stonehill, becoming the first Daemen player (and the first Daemen freshman) to post a multi-goal game since Ali Shawish did so with three tallies in the team's 6-1 defeat of Washington Adventist University on Oct. 7, 2016. He opened the scoring at the 11:23 mark of the first half, and later tied the game at 2-2 with his goal at the 61:55 mark, setting the stage for Finn Krueger's (Neuried, Germany) game-winner in the 88th minute. Aadnoy struck again at the 11:23 mark in Saturday's win over Walsh. The rookie forward made a run into the box and finished a play that included assists from Krueger and Anthony Cupello (Rochester, N.Y.).  Aadnoy's goal helped Daemen post its first-ever win over Walsh, snapping a 13-game slide in the all-time series. It also gave the Wildcats back-to-back wins for the first time since defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College and Roberts Wesleyan College during the 2014 season. And Aadnoy wasn't done yet. His goal at the 17:08 mark Sunday vs. Bloomsburg put Daemen ahead 3-1, finishing off another assist by Krueger who was also named to the league's weekly honor roll. For the season, Aadnoy is tied for second among ECC leaders in goals and total points (9). His shooting percentage (.444) ranks ninth in the league overall, and second among players who have attempted at least nine shots at this early juncture of the season. Since joining the ECC in 2013, Aadnoy becomes just the third Daemen player to garner any of the league's weekly awards, joining Shawish (Rookie of the Week: Oct. 3-10, 2016) and Matt Daddario (Co-Defensive Player of the Week: Sept. 22-28, 2014). Aadnoy leads Daemen (2-3 overall this season) into action this Saturday, Sept. 16 in the team's ECC opener at St. Thomas Aquinas. For breaking news and continuing coverage of the Daemen men's soccer team, follow @DaemenAthletics and @DaemenMSOC on Twitter.  Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned #13 Ali Shawish F 5' 7" Freshman #9 Kristian Aadnoy F 5' 11" Freshman #16 Anthony Cupello M 5' 8" Freshman #11 Finn Krueger M 6' 1" Freshman Players Mentioned #13 Ali Shawish 5' 7" Freshman F #9 Kristian Aadnoy 5' 11" Freshman F #16 Anthony Cupello 5' 8" Freshman M #11 Finn Krueger 6' 1" Freshman M
