Women's Volleyball 9/18/2017 4:53:00 PM Lea Sobieraski Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Heritz Named ECC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week AMHERST, N.Y. – Jenn Heritz (Granger, Ind.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the week for the competitions held September 11-17. The official announcement was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y. Heritz, a 6-foot middle hitter, helped the Wildcats go 2-1 last week, falling 3-0 at Gannon University (Sept. 12) followed by a thrilling five-set win over Adelphi University (Sept. 16) and a straight-set sweep of the College of Saint Rose (Sept. 16). With the two weekend victories, Daemen snapped a seven-match losing streak and improved to 3-7 overall. For the week, Heritz registered 29 kills on a .354 attack percentage and added seven blocks. In the loss to Gannon (18-25,18-25, 9-25), Heritz, as well as teammates Meghan Ballou (Eden, N.Y.) and Courtney Scanlan (Ellicottville, N.Y.), recorded a team-high seven kills. She also added three of the team's four blocks in the loss. Heritz posted 11 kills in Daemen's 3-2 defeat of the Adelphi Panthers (21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 15-7), a team that boasts 10 consecutive NCAA Tournament berths. She registered an impressive match-high .556 kill percentage, only committing one error in 18 attempts. Heritz added two blocks and three digs to round out her solid production in the win. Heritz added another double-digit kill performance in the straight-set victory over the Saint Rose Golden Knights (26-24, 25-23, 25-17). She nailed down 11 of the team's 44 kills, and posted another striking .381 attack percentage. Overall, Heritz has posted a team-high .282 attack percentage this season, and ranks third on the squad in total kills with 82, averaging 2.16 kills per set. Her 19 total blocks place her second among all team members, four of which have been solo. Heritz and the rest of the Wildcats make their 2017 home debut Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. Daemen plays host to Le Moyne College in a non-conference matchup at Lumsden Gymnasium to start a three-match homestand.
