Daemen, which has placed fourth at East Region Championship meet in each of the last two seasons, returned to the poll today after a one-week hiatus. The Wildcats opened the season at No. 5 in the USTFCCCA preseason regional rankings which were released on August 29, and were again in that position in the first in-season regional poll released on Sept. 12. After placing eighth at the Stampede Invitational, a meet dominated by NCAA Division I runners, on Sept. 15, Daemen was not included in the regional rankings released on Sept. 19. It snapped a string of 13 consecutive weeks that Daemen appeared in the poll dating back to the 2015 season. Two Northeast-10 Conference teams - Stonehill College (first) and Assumption College (second) remain atop the poll, as has been the case all season. The No. 1 Skyhawks have claimed five of the last six regional titles. Stonehill and Assumption are joined in the poll by their NE-10 brethren from Merrimack College (No. 4), Le Moyne College (No. 5), Bentley University (No. 7), Southern New Hampshire University (8th) and American International College (10th). Roberts Weslean College (No. 3) and St. Thomas Aquinas College (No. 6) represent the East Coast Conference, along with Daemen. No teams from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference were included in this week's poll. Daemen most recently posted a fifth-place finish, out of 16 competing teams, at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted Sept. 23 by Roberts Wesleyan. Senior Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y.), a first-team All-ECC performer last season, made her 2017 season debut Saturday, running to a fourth-place finish with a time of 19:16.1. It marked the second-straight year that Trabert has finished fourth at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational. It was also the eighth top-10 finish of her career, five of which have come in her last seven races. Freshman Tara Pede (Schenectady, N.Y.) also ran to a top-10 finish - her second of the season. She finished seventh with a time of 19:28.0. Freshman Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.), redshirt senior Katherine Robinson (Pasadena, Calif.) and sophomore Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y.) rounded out the Wildcats' top-five finishers Saturday. The Wildcats return to racing this Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
