AMHERST, N.Y. - Caroline White (Fairport, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for games played January 22-28. The official announcement was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

It marks the second time this season that White has earned the honor, as she was also selected for games played December 11-17. Daemen has now produced the ECC Rookie of the Week in three of the last six weeks, as redshirt freshman Tiara Filbert (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) earned the honor following games played January 1-7.

White, a 5-foot-11 freshman forward, shot 47 percent (8-for-17) from the field and averaged 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds during a pair of home wins last week. She connected on 3-of-4 shots from three-point land and totaled 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal in an 81-46 win over Mercy College. She followed up with 10 points and 11 rebounds—her second double-double of the year—in a 63-44 win over the University of Bridgeport. The 11 rebounds equaled her career-high which she posted in a triple overtime loss at Roberts Wesleyan College earlier this month.

White has now scored in double figures in six of the last 12 games, and has averaged 9.8 points and 6.6 rebounds over that same stretch. She has also connected on 18-of-48 three-pointers (38%) over that time.

For the season, White has played in all 21 games (14 as a starter), and she is fourth on the team in scoring average (7.8 ppg), and third in both rebounds per game (5.1 rpg) and three-pointers made (25).

White and the Wildcats (9-12, 6-5 ECC) have won four of their last five games and sit in fifth place in the ECC standings with seven games remaining in the regular season. Daemen is idle until this weekend when they travel to Saint Thomas Aquinas College (Feb. 2) and the University of the District of Columbia (Feb. 4) for ECC games.
