Daemen Summer Track Series Returns For Third Year

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen Athletics Summer Track Series returns for the third consecutive year with competitions for runners of all ages and abilities slated for five Thursday evenings between July 5 and August 2. A string of track meets that aims to bring the local running community together, the Daemen Athletics Summer Track Series will be held at the newly-renovated Williamsville South High School Stadium which also recently served as the site for the 2018 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

"As we witnessed this past weekend at the Buffalo Marathon, there is a strong appetite for these kinds of events in our region, and we're thrilled to once again be providing an atmosphere of competition and camaraderie for the Western New York running community," said interim director of athletics Brandi Guerinot. "We're extremely grateful for the continued support of Lawley Insurance which returns as the presenting sponsor of our series, and for growing corporate support from ADPRO Sports and Lloyd Taco Factory. We're also excited about the partnership we've developed with the Williamsville Central School District to provide a top-notch, modern venue for each competition."

Track meets are slated for July 5, 12, 18, 26 and August 2. Each one is open to any and all interested participants, regardless of age or running experience. Events include a one mile run, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, 3,200 meter run and a 4x400 meter relay race. There's also a 100 meter dash for kids. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for prizes in the "Premier Event of the Night" which will change weekly.

A weekly registration fee ($5 per event or $15 for unlimited events) will be charged to each participant, and all proceeds benefit Daemen Athletics. Pre-registration will be offered online for the first time in the series' history, and walk-up registration is also available each week beginning at 5 p.m. with running events slated for a 6 p.m. start. Williamsville South High School is located at 5950 Main Street.
