AMHERST, N.Y. - Brandi Guerinot, senior associate athletics director for internal operations/interim athletics director at Daemen College, has been appointed to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Committee for Legislative Relief. She has also been named vice chair of the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Reasonable Standards Committee.

"I am honored to have been selected for these two professional committees," said Guerinot. "I believe it is important to give time back to committees that play such a vital role in the world of NCAA compliance. I look forward to contributing in a positive manner to both committees."

The NCAA Division II Committee for Legislative Relief was created in 1993 as a response to the membership's desire for more rules flexibility. The committee regularly reviews Division II information standards, guidelines and directives, amateurism certification, overall policies and procedures, blanket waivers and incidental expense waivers.

The NAAC Reasonable Standards Committee works to establish logical norms to which all institutions should adhere when monitoring, providing education and documenting an institution's compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.

Guerinot has been employed with Daemen Athletics since March of 2016 when she came on as assistant athletics director for compliance and student-athlete success. In that role, she took on the primary oversight of Daemen's adherence to NCAA and East Coast Conference rules, as well as the department's academic and life skills programming for student-athletes. In October of 2017, she was promoted to senior associate athletics director for internal operations, a position that maintained her watchful eye on compliance and student-athlete initiatives, as well as adding administrative oversight of the department's operating budget.

In January of 2018, Guerinot took on the role of interim athletics director after the departure of Bridget Niland, Daemen's director of athletics since 2014. As interim athletics director, Guerinot has worked to maintain the steady growth of Daemen Athletics established by her predecessors, both as an enrollment driver for the institution and in terms of external revenue generation. She played an integral role in the elevation of cheerleading from club to varsity status, a move that brought Daemen's total number of varsity teams to 18, as well as landing former University of Nebraska coach Kerry McDermott to lead the Wildcats' men's and women's tennis programs. She is also presently co-chairing a search committee that has been tasked with identifying Daemen's next athletics director.

The recent committee appointments are the most recent example of Guerinot's rising profile in the realm of collegiate athletics administration. Also during her Daemen tenure, she's been included on a panel of industry professionals known as the Compliance Think Tank, she's participated on a committee of compliance professionals who were tasked with assisting the NCAA with the development and launch of the Division II Online Coaches Education Program, and she is a graduate of the Division II Athletic Directors' Association Woman and Minorities Mentoring Program.

A graduate of George Washington University, Guerinot was employed at NCAA headquarters, The Ohio State University, Boston College and the University at Buffalo before coming to Daemen.
