Track & Field Teams Recognized For Academic Achievement

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's and women's track and field teams have both earned All-Academic Team status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), two of 216 NCAA Division II teams nationwide announced as honorees this morning. Of the total number of honored teams, 132 were women's programs while 84 men's programs were recognized.

To be eligible for USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, teams must achieve a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and all team members must be accounted for in the compilation of the team GPA. After the spring 2018 semester, the Daemen women's track and field team holds a cumulative GPA of 3.21 while the Daemen men's track and field team has achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.08.

"As an NCAA Division II program, we place a strong emphasis on the need to balance athletics and academics. Our student-athletes have demonstrated a strong understanding of that balance, and I couldn't be prouder of them for the achievements they've made academically," said Daemen head coach Paul Lagno.
