CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - Five Daemen College student-athletes were included in the list of 2013 East Coast Conference (ECC) Indoor Track and Field All-Conerence honorees today, becoming the College's first recipients of All-Conference awards within the newly joined conference.  Daemen, which is in Candidacy Year One of the NCAA Division II membership process, will fully join the ECC in all sports beginning in the 2013-14 academic year.

The announcement today also represents the ECC's first ever All-Conference awards in indoor track and field.  The top two finishers in each event from the ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships, held last month in Huntington, N.Y., were named First Team All-Conference, while the third and fourth place finishers earned Second Team All-Conference recognition.

Headlining Daemen's All-Conference performers is a trio of first-teamers on the men's side.  Freshman Robert Ralyea (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and senior Andrew Stapleton (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) earned the distinction in the pole vault while senior thrower Mark Fox (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) joined them for his performance in the shot put.

Also in men's track and field, sophomore Travis Enser (West Valley, N.Y./West Valley Central) picked up Second Team All-Conference honors in the 800 meter run.

On the women's side, freshman Jordan Weir (Cato, N.Y./Cato-Meridian) earned 2nd Team All-Conference accolades for her showing in 3,000 meter run.

The ECC also announced that Shauna Kay-Creary of the University of the District of Columbia and George Erazo of St. Thomas Aquinas College were the Conference's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the conference's coaches.  Additionally, Alton McKenzie from the University of the District of Columbia and Alan Kilfoyle from Molloy College earned ECC Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year honors.
