AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College men's track and field athlete
Patrick Dorsey (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) has been named the East Coast Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the period of time covering all outdoor meets prior to March 22. The announcement was made from the conference office via its
weekly outdoor track and field report.
Dorsey, a 6-foot freshman thrower, established a new school record for the hammer throw when the Wildcats opened their 2015 outdoor campaign at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 13-14. Dorsey set the new standard with a toss of 28.75 meters, shattering the previous mark of 24.00 meters set by Sean O'Brien (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) in 2013.
In addition to Dorsey's honor, sophomore
Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) was included in the ECC's weekly honor roll for his performances at the same meet. Reid established new school records in both the 100-meter (11.44 seconds) and 200-meter (22.83 seconds) dashes.
Dorsey, Reid and the rest of the Wildcats continue their season at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
