AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College men's track and field athlete
Nick Marlin (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) has been named the East Coast Conference Field Athlete of the week for meets occurring March 30 through April 5. The announcement was made from the conference office via its
weekly outdoor track and field report.
Marlin, a 6-foot-4 freshman, established new school records for both the javelin and high jump while participating in the
Bob Kahn Invite last Saturday, April 4, hosted by Oberlin College. Marlin launched the javelin a record-breaking 34.01 meters, shattering his preliminary-round throw (23.09 meters) by nearly 11 meters. His high jump mark of 1.82 meters also set a new standard.
Marlin accounted for six of the Widlcats' 27 total points in the meet. He finished fifth in the javelin (four points) and sixth in the high jump (two points).
Marlin becomes the second Daemen freshman to capture ECC Field Athlete of the Week honors. His teammate
Patrick Dorsey (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) previously
earned the accolade back on March 24.
Marlin, Dorsey and the rest of the Wildcats return to action this Saturday, April 11 at the ROC City Invitational hosted by Nazareth College.
