AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's cross country team came in at No. 4 in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II East Region Rankings which were released today from the USTFCCCA national office in New Orleans, La.  Daemen had opened the year at No. 3 in the two previous versions of the poll released on August 30 and September 13.

Daemen was leap-frogged in the poll this week by East Coast Conference rival Roberts Wesleyan College.  The Redhawks moved up to No. 3 despite being idle last week; RWC last competed on September 10 when they finished in sixth place (out of seven competing teams) at the Oswego State Invitational.  Daemen spent last week finishing 12th out of 27 competing teams at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational.

Stonehill College and Assumption College, both of the Northeast-10 Conference remained at No. 1 and 2, respectively, for the third straight week.

Junior Amy Trabert (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) paced the Wildcats in last Saturday's meet, finishing 24th overall out of 352 competitors.  Trabert completed the 6K course in 22:59.2, beating teammate Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) in competition for the first time in her career.

Donahue, who became the Wildcats' first-ever NCAA Division II National Championships qualifier last year, made her season debut and finished 30th with a time of 21:30.7.  It marked just the third time in 21 career races that Donahue did not come in as Daemen's top finisher.

The Wildcats raced without senior Hannah Rice (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) who has never finished outside the team's top-five finishers in 18 career races.

Daemen heads back to the Rochester area this Saturday for the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.  It'll be the Wildcats' first chance to go head-to-head with the rival Redhawks this season as both battle towards the East Coast Conference Championship meet next month.
