May Earns Postseason Honor From Upper 90 Magazine

Figler, Ralyea, Nand Earn Honorable Mention All-WNY Honors

AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College men's soccer player Kenny May (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) has been named to the All-Western New York second-team by Upper 90 Magazine, a local publication dedicated covering soccer at all levels.  The publication annually announces its postseason All-Western New York teams which covers all collegiate teams in the Buffalo-Niagara Region from junior college to NCAA Division I.

May, a 5-foot-8 senior back, closed out his Daemen career this fall by appearing in and starting all 16 games as he developed into the team's most reliable defender, according to head coach Dan Dolan.  May totaled 59 caps and made 48 starts, helping the Wildcat program transition from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to NCAA Division II during the course of his career.

"Kenny was our most consisten player all season and the heart and soul of every game in tough season for us," Dolan said.  "He never took a play off and I'm very happy to see him the recognition he truly deserves."

In addition to May's selection, fellow senior Robert Ralyea (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport), redshirt-freshman Jeremy Nand (Toronto, Ont./University of Charleston) and true freshman Justin Figler (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) were named honorable-mention All-Western New York recipients.

Ralyea, 6-foot back, concluded his career by starting all 61 games he played in, including all 16 this fall.  Nand, a 5-foot-10 midfielder, led the team in assists with five, and ranked third in total points (seven).  Figler, a 5-foot-11 goalkeeper, played every second of every game in his rookie campaign, making 88 saves to rank second among all East Coast Conference players.

A young Daemen team that included just three seniors finished 2-13-1 overall, and 0-9-1 in ECC play in Dolan's first season on the sidelines.  The Wildcats return four of their top five scorers as well as the incumbent netminder Figler in 2016.
