Keem Named ECC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. - Freshman forward/defender Noah Keem (Amherst, N.Y.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for games played from October 9-15. The official announcement was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

Keem continued his ascent up the ECC statistical leadeboards with three goals and two assists (eight points) over two games last week while helping Daemen (5-9 overall, 1-5 ECC) to a 1-1 record.

In the Wildcats' 6-1 non-conference win last Tuesday vs. University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, Keem posted the first multi-goal game of his career, scoring twice in a little over two minutes early in the first half. His first goal at the 11:07 mark went down as the first game-winning goal of his career. He went on to add an assist on Finn Krueger's (Neuried, Germany) goal in the 73rd minute.

In a wild 4-3 double overtime loss to the University of Bridgeport last Saturday, Keem registered a goal and an assist. He put Daemen ahead 1-0 at the 16:44 mark with his sixth goal of the season, capitalizing on a rebound opportunity after an initial shot by classmate Victor Lanje (Helsingborg, Sweden). Keem then assisted on another Krueger tally, this one knotting the game at 2-2 at the 58:38 mark.

It's been an incredible run for Keem of late as he's totaled all 15 of his points this season (six goals, three assists) over the last six games, helping Daemen to a 3-3 record in those contests. He ranks first among all ECC freshmen, and sixth in the league overall, in both goals and points.

The announcement today marked Keem's second ECC Rookie of the Week selection, Daemen's third-straight overall and the team's fourth this season. Keem had previously earned the accolade for Sept. 25-Oct. 1, and Sander Johannessen (Skedsmokorset, Norway) was the recipient for Oct. 2-8. Also, freshman forward Kristian Aadnoy (Gjerdrum, Norway) won the award for Sept. 4-10.

Keem is the first two-time weekly award recipient since Daemen joined the ECC in 2013. The Wildcats' four weekly accolades this season are also the most of their ECC era.

Keem leads Daemen into a pair of league games this week as the Wildcats visit Queens College (Wednesday, Oct. 18) and host the University of the District of Columbia (Saturday, Oct. 21).
