Women's Soccer 11/2/2017 2:40:00 PM By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Boyar, Green Earn All-ECC Honors AMHERST, N.Y. - Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Monique Green (Williamsville, N.Y.) of the Daemen College women's soccer team have both been named third-team All-East Coast Conference selections, announced today in a press release from the conference office in West Babylon, New York. The All-ECC teams were selected by the league's nine head coaches.  Boyar, a sophomore forward, and Green, a junior defender, both played integral roles in leading Daemen to a 9-7-1 overall record and a 3-5-0 mark in ECC play. The Wildcats' nine wins this season were the most the team has achieved since going 10-10 in 2013, and the Wildcats finished with a record above .500 for the first time since 2012 (11-9).  "It's exciting to see both Jamie and Mo make the all-conference team. It's a well deserved honor for both of them," said Daemen head coach Dan Dolan who just completed his ninth season at the helm. "Jamie had one heck of a season, and she really scored some timely goals for us. Mo was consistent all year and she was obviously a big part of our defensive efforts. As veterans, their contributions helped our young team immensely, making it easier on our 17 freshmen. It's nice to see the other coaches in our league recognize them for what they helped us achieve this season."  Boyar finished the season with 11 goals, three assists and 25 points, becoming the first Daemen player with double-figure goals and 20 or more points since Kacey Bougard (13 gls, 33 pts) and Samantha Engel (11 gls, 30 pts) both did so in 2013. Seven of Boyar's goals went down as game-winners, with four of those coming in games decided by a single goal. Boyar led the ECC in game-winning goals during the regular season, and she also finished fourth among the league leaders in goals and points, and third in total shots (68).  A two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week selection (Sept. 4-10, Oct. 2-8), Boyar registered three multi-goal games this season. She was also named the Division II Hero of the Week by herosports.com in early September. Daemen posted a 7-1 record when she scored this season.  Since arriving on campus for the 2016 season, Boyar has started all 33 games that the team has played, and she's totaled 17 goals, seven assists and 41 points.  Green starred at the center back position this season, helping Daemen rank sixth in the ECC in total goals allowed (26) and goals-against average (1.48). Green's defensive efforts proved pivotal in leading Daemen to a 9-0-1 record when allowing one goal or fewer, including five wins by shutout. She finished the season as one of four players on the team to see more than 1,300 minutes of playing time, despite missing one game with an injury.  For her career, Green has appeared in 48 of a possible 51 games. She's made 37 starts, including the last 30 games in a row that she's appeared in.  Boyar and Green become the first All-ECC honorees from Daemen since 2015 when former Wildcat defender Rose Carboni earned third-team honors.
