Student-Athlete Spotlight: John Bruggman

Throughout the fall semester, daemenwildcats.com will feature a Student-Athlete Spotlight series to introduce you to current student-athletes from the college's 17 varsity athletic teams. Today's featured student-athlete is John Bruggman of the men's cross country/track and field team.

JOHN BRUGGMAN QUICK BIO

John Bruggman made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season while competing in both cross country and track and field. In the former, he appeared in all six races during the fall 2019 campaign and was among the team's top five finishers in each, including a top-50 performance at the East Coast Conference Championships. On the track, Bruggman earned the team's Most Improved Player award after placing in the top-20 of all six individual races he entered. Bruggman competed in four different track events - the 4x400 meter relay, 1 mile run, 800 meter run and 1,000 meter run - and ran a season-best 800 meter time at the East Coast Conference Indoor Championships.

A native of Batavia, N.Y., Bruggman helped the Batavia High School Blue Devils to four sectional championships during his scholastic career. He is majoring in Illustration at Daemen.

QUESTION & ANSWER

My favorite thing about my sport is my team. I love everyone on the team and I can talk to them about almost anything. Just going on a run with a bunch of my friends makes the sport even more enjoyable than it already is.
