AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior basketball players Lindsay Stoddard (Limestone, N.Y./Allegany-Limestone) and Uchechi Ogbonna (Westbury, N.Y./Erie CC) have been named the Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for December.

Stoddard, a 5-foot-6 point guard, averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7.3 assists in four games last month, helping Daemen to a 1-3 record.  

The standout performance for Stoddard last month came on Dec. 20 when she led a 24-point second half comeback to push the Wildcats to an 88-86 victory at Molloy Collegefor Daemen's first-ever win as a member of the East Coast Conference.  Stoddard notched the third double-double of her career in that one, scoring 19 points to go with a career-high 11 rebounds.  Her four three-pointers against Molloy were the most she's had in a game since knocking down five triples in a 99-50 win over the University of Maine-Fort Kent on Dec. 2, 2012.


For the season, Stoddard is averaging 14.3 points, 5.7 assists and 7.3 rebounds per outing.  She ranks among the conference leaders in all three categories (first in assists per game, tenth in points per game, eleventh in rebounds per game).

Ogbonna, a 6-foot-5 forward, continued his solid play, averaging 18 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game last month, while also shooting 65-percent from the field (28-for-43).  This is the second consecutive month that Ogbonna has earned Student-Athlete of the Month distinction.

Ogbonna ended the month with three consecutive double-doubles giving him five already this season.  In Daemen's 90-77 victory at Queens College on Dec. 22, Ogbonna matched a career-high with 20 points to go with 10 rebounds and three steals, helping the Wildcats snap a three-game losing skid.

For the season, Ogbonna is averaging 14 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61-percent from the field (57-for-93).  He ranks among the conference leaders in all three categories (first in field goal percentage, second in rebounds per game, fourteenth in points per game).
