Club Sports

Club sports offer students at Daemen University an alternative to intramural sports and intercollegiate athletics.

All clubs are self-administered by elected student officers and are primarily self-supported by membership dues. It is the responsibility of students to coordinate activities, classes, practices, employment of a coach, competition schedules, tournaments, transportation, publicity and all other factors of a successful operation.

Daemen's club sports may range in size and structure, offering a variety of opportunities to individuals looking to participate.

Additional information for specific clubs can be found by clicking the links below:

After your initial meeting with the DRW, you are encouraged to hold an "Interest Meeting," to help determine the interest-level across campus.

Moving forward, the group will continue to work with the DRW, submitting the following materials throughout the process:
  • Cover Letter, including:

    • state the Club Sport's desire to seek University recognition;
    • illustrate how the Club Sport will benefit the campus community;
    • describe how the Club Sport's operations will reflect the mission of the University .
  • Include a list of resources the Club Sport will need initially to be successful, including practice/competition space, time, equipment, transportation needs, etc.
  • Present for approval potential League/Conference membership and/or other intercollegiate competition opportunities
  • Present a draft of Bylaws for the Club Sport, including the amount of Club Dues required from each member.
  • Provide a roster with a minimum of eight interested full-time undergraduate or graduate students, their email addresses, classes and majors listed. Rosters should support the full number of players on the field/court plus another half. For example, a volleyball roster requires at least nine students: six on the court, plus three (half of six).
  • List of potential officers in good standing (a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher)
    • President;
    • Vice President;
    • Secretary;
    • Treasurer; and
    • Safety Officer (must be CPR Certified)
  • Name of faculty/staff advisor and/or potential Coach.

This process is expected to take anywhere from several weeks to several months. At any time during the process, the DRW may request additional information from the Club Sport officers.

The following factors will be considered by the DRW when reviewing a new Club Sport application:
  • Whether there is a prior or similar club or program which currently exists at the University;
  • Whether the Club Sports will require University facilities or off-campus facilities;
  • Whether, and to what extent, there are travel requirements and anticipated expenses per academic year;
  • Whether there is a demonstrated desire from the student body to join and support this program;
  • Whether the Club Sport anticipates, or will have an opportunity, to compete against other intercollegiate programs; and
  • Whether there is a sustainable plan in place to ensure the Club Sport's longevity.
