AMHERST, N.Y. - Men's tennis player Gregory Lowe (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) has been named the Bedore Tours Student-Athlete of the Month for March.

Lowe, a sophomore, went 4-4 in both doubles and singles action last month while helping Daemen (5-11, 1-2 ECC) to a pair of victories, including a 7-2 defeat of visiting Dowling College on March 28 for the Wildcats' first-ever win in East Coast Conference play.

Lowe picked up his first singles win of the month - a 6-2, 6-0 decision - over Keith Bujak of Elmira College on March 8.  He added victories over Peter Micu of the University of the Sciences (6-4, 4-6, 1-0 on March 22), Dowling's Logan Schiff (6-4, 6-0) and Peter Benoit of Alfred University (6-3, 6-2 on March 30).  All eight of Lowe's appearances in singles action last month came in the team's No. 2 slot.

In doubles, Lowe showed his versatility by pairing with four different partners in his eight March appearances, picking up one win while teaming with Adam Kerr (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit) and three more with Zach Kinnaird (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home).

Lowe, who earned team M.V.P. honors for the inaugural men's tennis season at Daemen last year, sports individual records of 8-9 (singles) and 7-11 (doubles) so far this season.

Lowe and the rest of the Wildcats return to action this weekend with a pair of non-conference matches on the road as they'll visit St. John Fisher College (April 4) and Keuka College (April 5) before returning home next week to face Penn State-Behrend (April 9) and Edinboro University (April 10).  The season concludes with a trio of ECC clashes vs. Queens College (away, April 11), St. Thomas Aquinas College (away, April 12) and Roberts Wesleyan College (home, April 15).
