Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Cole Beale Award Athletes of the Month Week Of 10/2/2014 Sport Men's Soccer Bio View Full Bio AMHERST, N.Y. - Men's soccer player Cole Beale (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and cross country runner Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) have been named Daemen College's Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for September.After scoring once in 17 games last season, Beale, a 5-foot-10 sophomore forward, scored four goals in September, helping Daemen win three of their first seven outings this season.  He opened the year by scoring the game-winning goal in Daemen's 2-1 road victory over the College of St. Rose on September 6.  He then added Daemen's lone tally in a hard-luck 2-1 defeat to Slippery Rock University on September 13, before registering a pair of goals, including the game-winner, during the Wildcats' 3-1 win over Gannon University three days laster.  The two-goal outing vs. Gannon was the first multi-goal game of Beale's career.Presently, Beale leads the team in goals, game-winning goals and shots on goal (10).  His four goals rank seventh in the East Coast Conference so far this season.Donahue, a 5-foot-2 sophomore, opened the season with back-to-back top-10 finishes, giving her a streak of eight consecutive such performances.  Donahue finished the Le Moyne Alumni Short Course Invitational, a 4K race, in sixth place with a time of 15:11.97 back on September 6.  She went on to finish in fourth place at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on September 13, running that race, a more traditional 5K, in 19:36.4.Donahue's string of top-10 finishes was snapped at the ultra-competitive Harry F. Anderson Invitational on September 27, although she still came in as the Wildcats' top scorer in the race, finishing in 28th place with a season-best time of 19:18.9.This selection is Donahue's second for Student-Athlete of the Month.  She last earned the honor for September of 2013.
