Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Robert Ralyea Award Athletes of the Month Week Of 5/6/2015 Sport Men's Track & Field Bio View Full Bio AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College track and field athletes Robert Ralyea (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and Toria Williams (Buffalo, N.Y./Medaille College) have been named the Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for April, 2015.Ralyea, a 6-foot, 180-pound junior, took home conference champion honors in the pole vault after winning the event at the 2015 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Â Ralyea cleared 3.50 meters in the pole vault event, establishing a new conference record for the outdoor league meet, bettering the previous mark of 3.20 meters set by Michael Pignotti of Molloy College in 2013. Â It was Ralyea's first conference title in the outdoor season; he already owns three-straight ECC pole vault championships during the indoor track and field season. Â For his efforts, Ralyea was named a first team All-ECC competitor.Ralyea also mustered a seventh-place finish at the ECC meet in the javelin with a long toss of 35.73 meters. Â Williams, a 5-foot-11 sophomore, also earned first team all-league honors after picking up her second-straight outdoor ECC title in the shot put. Â Williams posted a long throw of 11.89 meters to outdistance the second-place effort of Tatyana Calhoun (11.46 meters) of the University of the District of Columbia. Â She also finished fourth in the discus (27.85 meters), earning second team All-ECC accolades in that event, while posting a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw (27.00 meters).The selections of Ralyea and Williams conclude the Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month program for the 2014-15 academic year. Â Selections will begin again in early October for the 2015-16 academic year.
