AMHERST, N.Y. – Torrence Dyck (Rochester, N.Y./San Jacinto College) and Natalie Galus (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) have been named the Daemen College Student-Athletes of the Month for December, 2015.

Dyck, a 6-foot-5 senior guard/forward on the men's basketball team, came back with vengeance this season after having his 2014-15 season cut short by an injury.  For the month, Dyck appeared in and started all five of the team's games, averaging 21.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  Dyck was a force to be reckoned with by putting up 20 or more points four times in the month, and his efforts paved the way for the Wildcats in victories over Edinboro University and Dowling College.

Dyck netted 26 points, connecting on 9-of-14 shots from the field and 2-for-3 from the three-point range in the December 12 non-league win over Edinboro.  He followed that up with a monstrous game against University of the District of Columbia on December 13 by recording his first double-double of the season, and the third of his career (26 points, 11 boards), while adding a season-high seven assists.  For his efforts, Dyck was named ECC Co-Player of the Week for games played December 7-15.

He would go on to add another double-double to his resume by contributing 21 points and 10 rebounds in the conference victory at Dowling on December 18.  It would mark the fifth game this season where he scored over 20 points.  Dyck once again led Daemen in points by finishing with 27 while adding four assists in a losing effort against preseason ECC favorite University of Bridgeport on December 20.

Galus, a 5-foot-11 junior forward on the women’s basketball team, appeared in and started all five of the team’s games, averaging 12.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.  She scored in double figures in four of the Wildcats' five games in the month, raising her season point-per-game average from 4.0 to 8.9.

She opened the month with a solid game against Edinboro, connecting on 6-of-10 shots from the field for 15 points, while also leading the team with seven rebounds in the 87-84 overtime loss.  Galus added 12 points, four rebounds, two blocks and an assist in a conference loss at Dowling on December 18.

She had another 12-point game against Bridgeport on December 20 in an overtime conference loss while adding five boards.  Galus led the Wildcats with a season-high 19 points, while adding seven boards and a solo block, in a non-conference loss to Saint Michael’s College on the road on December 30.
