Daemen University Athletic Complex

Since opening in 1984, the Daemen Athletic Complex has served as the main hub for the Division of Athletics, housing Lumsden Gymnasium as well as athletic office space and athletic training room. The building formerly offered recreation space such as weight and cardio rooms, but with the opening of the Academic and Wellness Center in the fall of 2015, the Athletic Complex is now exclusively home to Daemen's 17 NCAA Division II athletics programs..

CAMPUS LOCATION & HOW TO ENTER/EXIT
The Athletic Complex sits adjacent to the Research and Information Commons (RIC) and is visible from the primary entrance off of Main Street. The primary entrance to the building is accessible from the front (Main Street side of building); pathways and signage point the way to the lobby entrance which is partially obscured by the adjacent RIC. 

The building is also accessible through its connection to Duns Scotus Hall. That entrance is marked with Daemen Athletics branding and signage. Upon entering Duns Scotus, visitors may proceed up a flight of stairs to the first floor of Duns Scotus, turning right to subsequently enter the Athletic Complex through the Student-Athlete Academic Center; or, visitors can proceed to the down the flight of stairs to the ground floor of Duns Scotus, entering the Athletic Complex lobby by making their way up the ramp that connects the two buildings. 

PARKING
Parking for the Athletic Complex is available in Lots A, K, L and M, as well along Main Street and Campus Drive. 

BUILDING CHANGES/RENOVATIONS
The Daemen Athletic Complex has experienced several changes through the years:

• The Daemen Athletics Hall of Fame in the lobby area was redesigned to include a digital touchscreen display; a new physical acrylic Hall of Fame display was added as well; both upgrades were made in Fall 2022.
• In 2021, new athletics branding was added to enhance the ramp walkway from the ground floor of Duns Scotus Hall; the branding includes a timeline of Daemen Athletics' history.
• Also in 2021, an acrylic display of Daemen coaches complete with biographical information was added to the lobby area.
• New athletics branding was added to various doorways, including the Lumsden Gymnasium entrance in 2020. 
• In 2019, the exterior facade was painted gray to match neighboring buildings such as the Research & Information Commons and Haberman Gacioch Center for Visual & Performing Arts.
• Also in 2019, a new concessions stand was added to the lobby to better serve fans attending contests at Lumsden Gymnasium.
• The opening of the Academic & Wellness Center's weight and fitness room in 2015 allowed for the re-purposing of space inside the Athletic Complex. This included the movement of the athletic training room from the west side of the building into the Jacobs Rooms on the east side, a transition that more than doubled the available space for sports medicine treatment and rehab, as well as creating additional office space for the sports medicine staff. Also at this time, the former cardio room was converted into office space and a state-of-the-art triathlon training facility.
• Through an anonymous donation, the Student-Athlete Academic Center was established at the complex's upper entrance adjacent to Duns Scotus Hall. The Student-Athlete Academic Center provides study space exclusive to the division's growing number of student-athletes. 
• The upper landing area that overlooks the lobby, formerly known as The Patio, was renovated in 2012, expanding existing offices from two to seven. This area is now the primary office suite for Daemen coaches.
