Box Score AMHERST, NY - After a slow start, Daemen regrouped and gained a 66-45 win over Carlow in their American Mideast Conference opener today.
Carlow stormed out of the gate quickly scoring on six of their first seven possessions to take a 13-0 lead four minutes into the game. Daemen's defense picked up as the Wildcats went on a 19-4 run over the next nine minutes. The Wildcats took their first lead of the game (19-17) on a
Courtney Donovan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island HS) jumper with 7:06 left in the half. Daemen took a 28-24 lead into the half.
Ellie Allen's (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home HS) three-pointer with 15:45 left gave Daemen their first double digit lead (38-28). Daemen built their largest lead (58-36) with 5:57 left after a
Jillian Fitzner (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata Acad.) jumper.
The Wildcats had four players in double figures. Allen, Donovan, and
Chelsea Andorka (Canton, OH/Central Catholic HS) had 13 points each. Fitzner added 12 points on 5-7 shooting. Donovan was 2-2 from three-point range and added seven rebound, two blocks, and two assists. Allen led in rebounds (8) and assists (4).
Carlow (5-5, 1-2) was led by Danielle Lindsey (10 points, 10 rebounds).
Daemen is now 9-1 overall. They are off until December 21st when they will host Fisher College at 6:00pm.
