12/21/2011 9:35:00 PM

Box Score AMHERST, NY - Junior forward Lia Zahn (Canadaigua, NY/Canandaigua HS) came off the bench to score a career-high 16 points, scorching the net on 8-for-10 shooting to lead the Daemen Wildcats (10-1, 2-0 AMC) to an 85-29 victory over the visiting Fisher Falcons (0-15, 0-7 AMC) on day one of the Daemen College Holiday Classic.  In the other women's game today, Roberts Wesleyan scored a 77-60 victory over Laurentian.

While Zahn came out firing from the outside, her teammates went to work in the paint as Daemen netted a staggering 56 points in close to the basket.  The Wildcats also hammered the under-manned Falcons 49-21 on the glass.

After some initial back-and-forth play to start the game, Daemen seized control halfway through the first, opening up a 43-17 lead at the half.  Fisher, who dressed just six players, found the second half treated them even worse as they managed just 12 points on 18% shooting (5-for-28) in the period.

Not to be out-done was junior Chelsea Andorka (Canton, OH/Central Catholic HS) who led the Wildcats with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.  Andorka also notched five assists in the win.

Freshman Jordyn Broas (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East HS) chipped in with 11 points off the bench while starters Monica Kosior (Grimsby, ON/Holy Trinity SS) and Ellie Allen (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home HS) split 16.

The Wildcats were led on the backboard by freshman Jillian Fitzner (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata Acad.) who grabbed nine while Samantha Stanfield (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison HS) and Courtney Donovan (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island HS) snatched seven caroms apiece.

Playing in her first game of the season, sophomore point guard Lindsay Stoddard (Limestone, NY/Allegheny-Limestone HS) dished out a game-high eight assists.

The Daemen Holiday Classic continues tomorrow.  Fisher will face Roberts Wesleyan in the day's opening game at 12pm.  Daemen will face Laurentian at 4pm.
